She developed The Complete Picture Book Submissions System with Emma Walton Hamilton and is one of the founders of Picture Book Summit, a yearly online conference for picture book writers from around the world.

Julie is a frequent speaker at writing retreats and conferences. Her latest picture book Song After Song: The Musical Life of Julie Andrews debuted in Fall 2023.
